Default S.a.l.t.

I was reading the May issue of EMS Responder and came across the S.A.L.T. (supraglottic airway laryngopharyngeal tube) from MDI; has anyone used this device.

Yeah, I saw that too and was looking it up this morning. My wife says their Boundtree rep was demo'ing some sort of airway device but she wasn't sure what one; so I may be able to provide a second-hand report.

Found the website, though; they have a video:

I do like how it doubles as a tube holder. Other than that, it just seems like one more tool for difficult airways.

I looked up the site the other night and watched the video on the device. I sent in a request for more info so I could bring it up to our evaluation committee. Looks like something that could be a benefit in all our medic bags.

The device being demo'd to my wife was an Airtraq, not this. She said the trainer broke on its first use--not exactly a resounding endorsement.

No, not to good..,but if it was a demo, then I'm sure that wasn't the first time it was used either. I'll know more on it by Wed or Thurs when my I get one in. They sent me more info on it, it should be on the market in a few weeks and cost is around $18.00.

Thumbs up First Impression

Well, I got the salt and played with it along with my district fto and one of our paramedic instructors and the verdict is: very impressed. We set up different simulations with 4 diffirent manikins from anterior airways to c-collar and never had a problem. The time it takes to drop an opa in, the manikin was intubated. On intubating a manikin, its worth the buy; I would like to see how well it works on a person...

No, it's an ET tube placement adjunct. One of the posts above has the website if you want to look at it.

I requested some info sent to me by mail but I haven't received anything yet. This was last month. Of course I had it sent to my work place so somebody might be playing with the stuff and haven't told me yet.
